◦ Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) - $140 non-refundable fee for all applicants regardless of the number of school designations

◦ American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) - $160 for the first school. Additional school designations are $37 each.

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)• MD
◦ Official score required. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) must report all administrations of the MCAT directly to TMDSAS.
◦The MCAT must have been taken no earlier than five years before the expected date of enrollment.
American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS)• MD/PhD
◦Applicants must complete the primary AMCAS application and complete the COM Secondary Application. To submit a complete secondary application, M.D./Ph.D. applicants must answer the section of supplemental questions specifically directed to applicants of the program.
◦Applicants will not be considered for evaluation until the AMCAS and COM secondary application are complete and three letters of recommendation are received. Applicants who want to be considered for the M.D. only program must submit a TMDSAS application in addition to the AMCAS application. Please note: Applicants cannot apply to the M.D. only program through AMCAS.
International Requirements1• Consideration is given only to applicants who are U.S. permanent residents (Green Card Bearers) or who are in the process of gaining U.S. permanent residency and officially receive U.S. permanent residency by the time or medical school enrollment
• At least 90 semester credit hours from a fully accredited college or university in the U.S. or its territories including specific course requirements.
• Baccalaureate degree preferred before enrolling from a fully accredited college or university in the U.S.

◦ One Health Professions Committee Packet or Two individual letters of evaluation
◦ Highly recommended that evaluators be current or former professors
◦ Three letters of recommendation (LOR), at least one of which is from a research mentor

◦ Three letters of evaluation including at least one letter from a research mentor

◦ Personal interview required and invitations based on the strengths assessed in the screening process.
Partnership for Primary Care• Entrance into the College of Medicine is assured at the time of entrance into one of the seven Texas A&M System partner universities provided student has:
◦ A high school GPA of at least a 3.50
◦ Be predicted to graduate in the top 10% of high school class
◦ Present a SAT score of at least 1200 or an ACT score of at least a 26.
• Students selected into the program must maintain a yearly cumulative GPA of 3.50 while in college and complete the required courses for medical school.
• Students must meet the 500/125 MCAT score requirement.
• Students must complete undergraduate degree before enrolling into the College of Medicine

In order to be admitted to graduate and professional studies at Texas A&M University, submit international transcripts translated in English by a certified English translator, which can usually be accomplished at the nearest American Embassy in the student’s country. International transcripts for all Health Science Center (HSC) components are evaluated by and any required fees are paid to the Texas A&M University International Student Services (http://iss.tamu.edu/).

General Admissions Requirements

  • At least 90 credit hours of undergraduate coursework, preferably a baccalaureate degree, at a U.S. accredited college or university
  • 50 credit hours of prerequisite courses in English, Statistics, Biology, Biochemistry, General and Organic Chemistry and Physics
  • Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
  • Application via the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) and the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) for the MD/PhD program
  • College of Medicine Secondary Application
  • Criminal Background Check with results deemed favorable
