Materials Integrity and Corrosion Engineering - Certificate

The graduate certificate in Materials Integrity and Corrosion Engineering was developed in response to strong industry demand and the national need for expertise in asset integrity, reliability, and management across strategic sectors such as energy (oil, gas, nuclear, and renewables), petrochemicals, aerospace, defense, infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.

The curriculum integrates:

  • core components on corrosion science, electrochemistry and materials degradation mechanisms
  • applied course on corrosion prevention and control strategies, coatings and inhibitors, cathodic protection and materials selection in aggressive environments
  • advanced training in failure analysis and integrity assessment methods, with emphasis on diagnosing degradation processes and recommending corrective actions

The goals of the Materials Integrity and Corrosion Engineering certificate are to prepare professionals:
