The primary focus of Bachelor of Science in Maritime Operations is to bridge the gap between Maritime business operation which focuses on the contractual and business to the sea- going vessel operations.
The Bachelor of Science in Maritime Operations (MARO) undergraduate curriculum, offered through the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies, provides a solid background in near coastal and inland vessel operations, cargo handling between vessel to shore, port security (including cyber) and port infrastructure operations. Coursework is coupled with either at-sea or internship experiences to enhance integrated learning. As global trade increases, shore-based roles in the maritime industry are vital to the smooth operation of ports, shipping companies and integrated logistics networks worldwide to support the regional and national economy.
