Dance Science - BS

The Bachelor of Science in Dance Science is for students with prior dance experience who are interested in careers in dance education or dance science. This degree’s flexibility allows those interested in professional school after graduation the ability to fulfill their prerequisites and focus on the art and science of dance. Many of our students go on to study physical therapy, occupational therapy, or medicine. The educators that graduate from our program have the knowledge and skills to train dancers at the highest level while decreasing the prevalence of injury.

Performance

Performance opportunities include an annual dance concert (Perpetual Motion), student concerts, informal showings, student organization concerts, as well as state, regional, and national/international performances. Students are also given the opportunity to attend various festivals and conferences.

The Dance Program and the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts bring in guest artists to work with students each year. These guests provide an array of opportunities for students including concerts, workshops, and setting repertory. This not only gives students a unique opportunity to build their resumes but to work with a variety of professionals in the field.
