Masters Programs

MS Management Information Systems (MS-MIS)

The MS-MIS degree program prepares students to enter this exciting and dynamic career field. It provides students with a solid technical information systems foundation and appropriate business skills that enables graduates to immediately contribute to solving business problems. Graduates are highly valued and respected in the workforce and are sought by first class employers.

The program is equally beneficial for students with an information systems background as well as those wishing to leverage and enhance their undergraduate degree from another field. The MS-MIS degree is an ideal complement for any undergraduate student with a degree in business, engineering, science, math or other analytically-oriented majors. The MS-MIS degree can jump start your career and provide opportunities not available to those with only an undergraduate degree.

The MS-MIS degree program provides two delivery methods. The traditional format is an on-campus option that takes three or four semesters (16-21 months) and includes a core curriculum of five courses, in addition to seven elective courses, and may include up to two optional internships. The Flex Online format is designed for working professionals and requires 12 courses, taken in eight-week terms over 24 months. Graduates of the program are qualified to pursue a variety of careers in IT, such as business, systems or network analyst, database administrator, software developer, risk assurance specialist, systems developer, web developer, etc.

Prerequisites for the MS-MIS in-person degree include a course in each of the following:

  • computer programming (any language)
  • databases
  • systems analysis and design
  • business data communications

MS Supply Chain and Analytics (MS-SCAN)

The MS-SCAN program equips students to be leaders who can provide innovative solutions and have direct impact on the financial and operational health of a company. This program harnesses a pioneering multidisciplinary approach, teaching students to successfully leverage the dynamic capabilities of data analysis technologies to make real-time decisions that resolve an organization's most complex supply chain challenges. Graduates of the program are qualified to step into leadership roles in companies in a variety of industries.

The MS-SCAN program is equally beneficial for students with supply chain backgrounds as well as those wishing to leverage and enhance their undergraduate degree from another field. This degree is an ideal complement for any undergraduate student with a quantitative aptitude and can jump start your career and provide opportunities not available to those with only an undergraduate degree.

This is an in-person program that is completed in just 11 months with a summer start date (July), and it includes a trip abroad. The core curriculum is comprised of 10 required courses and two electives for a total of 32 credit hours. Students move through the degree program as a cohort.

Doctoral Program

The doctoral program in operations and supply chain management is strongly research oriented and has a systems point of view. It stresses the relationships among the functional business areas and the importance of effective decision making with the goal of developing professionals who are well grounded in underlying theory in their disciplines and who have refined problem-solving capabilities.

The program has three primary objectives:

  1. provide comprehensive knowledge of business concepts and practices in functional business areas to support teaching and research interests
  2. develop advanced competencies for conducting quality research, directing research of others, and communicating research findings through teaching and writing
  3. prepare candidates for the varied responsibilities of academic careers or for positions requiring similar research and analytical skills.
