Communication - BS
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Communication provides a marketable set of skills aimed toward communication intervention in areas such as business, health communication, media, politics, non-profits and social issues.
The BS in Communication (COMM) focuses on communication intervention, the power of collaborative communication to solve complex problems in business, industry and society. This degree draws from an integrated blending of the critical thinking of the liberal arts with the analytical and quantitative proficiencies of STEM.
In the BS-COMM, students pursue coursework that provides a foundation in social scientific theories of communication alongside marketable, data-driven and creative, digital skills.
Why Choose the Bachelor of Science?
- Specialized Certification: BS-COMM majors have the unique option to earn certificates in Strategic Communication, Health Communication or Social Media through the Department of Communication and Journalism (CMJR).
- Flexible Focus: Unlike the Bachelor of Arts, BS students can choose to complete a minor or replace it with a departmental certificate. This allows students to further define their expertise.
- A Supportive Start: Freshmen begin with a dedicated first-semester experience, introducing them to the breadth of the field and the resources of Texas A&M through small-group engagement.
- Transfer Students are integrated into the "Communication family" through a transition process tailored to their specific academic journey.
