Journalism - Minor
The Department of Communication and Journalism offers a minor in Journalism. A Journalism minor is a complement to any major and provides excellent tools to support students who wish to share ethically-sourced and fact-checked reports with the public. The minor in Journalism provides a background in reporting, from interviewing to online records searches, and in writing, from deadline news stories to longer analytical and feature pieces. Multi-media journalism along with the opportunity for specialized, advanced writing classes in political reporting, literary nonfiction, sports reporting, arts and entertainment journalism, magazine writing, and non-fiction literary reporting are among student favorites. The required journalism internship affords students another means to acquire writing and production experience, as well as a great resume entry. Students also can obtain in-depth experience in the field of new media.
