Master of Landscape Architecture and Doctor of Philosophy (URSC) Combine Program

The Master of Landscape Architecture and the PhD in Urban and Regional Science combined program allows graduate students who wish to pursue future graduate studies and further their research capabilities to streamline their graduate education into a PhD.

The graduate courses, through evidence-based design practices, are designed to equip students with knowledge and skills to deal effectively with the opportunities and challenges inherent in the design, development, and visualized futures of cities and landscapes. Students acquire skills that enable them to apply theories to design communities, cities, and sites that are safe, healthy, and sustainable, all based on built environment research. While still completing Master-level credits in landscape architecture, students begin PhD level coursework in Urban and Regional Sciences to refine and extend their skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and theory, and methodologies, saving nearly a year worth of course coursework when entering the PhD in Urban and Regional Science program.
