Family Nurse Practitioner - Certificate
The certificate is designed to offer those holding non-advanced practice graduate degrees in nursing the opportunity to train for certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Students will complete 27 credit hours of course credit, with 585 hours of direct care practice hours. This program will run in concurrence with the existent master’s degree program with a FNP track.
Admission Criteria
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all prior graduate coursework
- Master’s degree or higher in nursing
- Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas
- Verification of at least 1500 hours of clinical practice experience as a registered nurse
- Completion of advanced physical assessment, advanced pathophysiology and advanced pharmacology as part of prior graduate program. If the prior graduate program did not incorporate these requirements, then equivalent courses must be completed prior to admission.
This program is also approved for delivery via asynchronous distance education technology.
