This program prepares students for a career in communications, marketing, public relations and more.
Students graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communications and Journalism are prepared for employment in agricultural businesses, organizations, associations, and government agencies at all levels. Students obtain an understanding of media and science communication theory and industry best-practices to apply what they learn outside of the classroom. Graduates gain skills in the areas of social media, scientific writing, journalism, magazine production, photography, public relations, advertising, and multimedia content creation.
Students who wish to develop specific career plans may do so in consultation with their Agricultural Communications and Journalism advisor. With approval of the advisor and the dean’s office, substitutions may be made in the required scientific and technical agriculture courses to help meet the student’s goals.
