Biology - Minor
A minor in Biology should represent coursework taken in the discipline beyond courses that might be used to satisfy core curriculum science requirements. Therefore, though BIOL 111 and BIOL 112 are prerequisites to all of the listed courses, they are not considered part of the minor program. Some coursework will require organic chemistry. The coursework listed represents various sub-disciplines within the field of Biology and would give the student an overall knowledge base fitting a minor in Biology.
Enrollment/Eligibility Criteria
Students must complete BIOL 112 and CHEM 120 with a grade of C or better to be considered for this minor. The minor must be requested before the student has achieved senior classification (90 credit hours). Only one minor from the department is permitted and all requests are subject to approval by a Biology advisor. Students majoring in Biomedical Science or pursuing any degree within the Department of Biology are not eligible to pursue this minor.
Application Process
Students seeking to declare the minor must receive approval from a Biology undergraduate academic advisor. Additional information is available on the Department of Biology website.
