Geology - Minor

The minor in Geology provides students with a solid foundation in the fundamental principles of Geology, with an option to concentrate in Geophysics through elective courses.

This minor is especially suited to complement majors in science, policy, humanities, education and business. Students will develop skills in scientific inquiry and critical thinking centered on Earth's evolution, processes and history. Graduates with the Geology Minor will be better prepared for advanced academic degrees and careers in environmental public practice, energy industry business and policy, conservation, government, oversight and regulation compliance.

Application Process

¹: Students must meet with the department academic advisor for approval of technical elective courses.
²: No more than 2 credit hours of GEOL 330 may be applied to minor
³: No more than 3 credit hours of any combination from GEOL 489, GEOL 491, GEOP 489, GEOP 491 may be applied to minor.

Minimum of 6 credits must be taken in residence at Texas A&M University.

Minimum of 8 credits at the 300-400 level required.

Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA for all courses in the minor.
