Chinese - Minor

This minor is a valuable complement to the academic portfolio of any student majoring in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences who wishes to add Chinese language proficiency and an international dimension to their intellectual profile.

The minor in Chinese is an academic program open to all students at the university. The minor is interdisciplinary in nature and combines courses in Chinese language and culture with electives in Chinese studies, as well as a capstone project. A minor in Chinese also helps prepare students for careers in education, international development, nonprofit agencies and NGOs, translation and interpreting, public relations and marketing, government service, international law, international business, engineering, global health and research. In addition, Chinese studies faculty offer study-abroad programs to enrich students' learning experiences and cultural knowledge while helping students attain higher proficiency in the language.
