History - Minor
A minor in history broadens one’s education and enhances job market competitiveness by developing strong writing and critical thinking skills.
The Department of History offers a minor in history. Students from all majors are welcome to pursue this minor, as history is the ideal complement to virtually any course of study at Texas A&M. Students in the sciences and engineering, for example, would greatly benefit from using a history minor to help sharpen their writing and critical-thinking skills. Employers consistently cite a lack of proficiency in writing and reasoning as one of their chief complaints about prospective employees. Students with the History Minor receive valuable training in precisely those competencies. Other students interested in graduate or professional programs such as law school or social work also stand to benefit from a historical perspective on the issues and problems that matter to the nation and world today.
