Public Service and Administration - BS

The Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Administration (BS-PSAA) is an interdisciplinary degree designed to ensure students develop the professional skills necessary for effective leadership in the public and nonprofit sectors.

Students in this degree program will learn the practical skills needed to conduct policy-relevant research and effectively communicate research recommendations. Students will also gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic public and nonprofit sectors and learn how to participate in and contribute to the public policy process. The BS-PSAA degree should be particularly appealing to students who are interested in building better connections between science and public policy  (e.g., those planning to work for organizations such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Texas Education Agency, or the Sierra Club).

Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Administration will be well-prepared for a variety of careers in the public and nonprofit sectors. Specific examples include public affairs specialists, grant writers, research assistants, budget analysts, management and administrative analysts, program analysts or policy coordinators.
