Studio Art - Minor

The Studio Art minor provides students with a dynamic foundation in visual arts, combining hands-on practice in traditional media with experience in digital tools. Through a sequence of studio courses, students develop creative skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and digital art while exploring their own artistic perspective and style.

Students are encouraged to build technical proficiency and experiment across a variety of media, with coursework emphasizing both personal expression and professional standards in art-making. Online and in-person classes offer opportunities for creative exploration, critical thinking and portfolio development. Course options include specialized classes such as painting, drawing, photography and time-based media. Students learn industry-standard processes and problem-solving approaches, preparing them for their own artistic endeavors.

The student's home school, college or department may grant, with agreement from the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts, transfer credit of no more than six credit hours. Transfer credit will not be accepted for any 300- or 400-level courses. Per university guidelines, the student's home school/college is responsible for advising students pursuing the Studio Art minor.
