Dance Performance - Minor
Overview Admission to the dance performance minor requires an audition. Refer to the Dance Program website for information on auditions.
The Dance Program offers a minor in dance performance which can be used to enhance the major in dance. This minor allows students to deepen their technical training and focuses on the performance of concert dance.
Dance is an important part of the visual and performing arts educational experience. A minor in performance can enhance a student's academic experience. Dance minor students are part of the Dance Program and can participate in program-based events throughout the year.
Performance Opportunities
Performance opportunities include an annual dance concert (Perpetual Motion), student concerts, informal showings, student organization concerts, as well as state, regional, and national/international performances. Students are also given the opportunity to attend various festivals and conferences.
The Dance Program and the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts bring in guest artists to work with students each year. These guests provide an array of opportunities for students including concerts, workshops, and setting repertory. This not only gives students a unique opportunity to build their resumes but to work with a variety of professionals in the field.
