Spanish - Minor

The Spanish minor allows students from any major to develop their linguistic skills while gaining Hispanic cultural competency.

A strong complement coursework in many other majors, including science, health and business, this minor focuses on language-based coursework that will serve as an asset upon entering the job market after graduation. A minor in Spanish also helps prepare students for careers in education, international development, nonprofit agencies and NGOs, translation and interpreting, public relations and marketing, government service, international law, international business, engineering and research.

The department has identified the following disciplinary themes as key focus areas that prepare students for professional programs and employment in careers in a variety of fields that require or benefit from knowledge of Spanish. These themes are recommendations and may be combined with other themes or elective courses. Completion of theme courses alone does not in confer a minor.

  • Business-Law and Law Enforcement
